Gloria Carrillo was elected to the Board of Trustees in May of 2017. She works as a General Liability Case Manager for the Legal Center of Jose Angel Gutierrez in Dallas and is very involved in the community of Grand Prairie, where she has lived for many years. Gloria is a strong supporter of public education and GPISD. As a Trustee, Gloria’s focus will be on student safety and security, career and college readiness, Pre-K for all children, expansion of the Dual Language Program, enhancement of the Special Education Program, early intervention for at-risk students, and increase parent/community involvement.
She has been recognized for several accomplishments, including recipient of the Ford Foundation Hispanic Salute for Volunteer Work, a founding member of the Grand Prairie Cinco de Mayo Celebration, GPISD Outstanding Contribution to Hispanic Heritage, Crime Commission President’s Award, Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation Hall of Fame, 2017 Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce Nominee for Citizen of the Year, Woman of the Year, and NAACP Community Service Award.
Gloria also serves on several boards and committees, including the YMCA Advisory Board, Parkland Hospital Advisory Board, Chair of the Building Advisory and Appeals Board, Chair of the Hispanic Assocation for Culture and Education, Ford Foundation Hispanic Salute, St. Michael the Archangel Pastoral Advisory Council, and Chair of the Cinco de Mayo Committee.
