Preparing to Run

Preparing to RunYou want to serve your community – and we want to help you do it. Choosing to run for public office is a big decision that may raise many questions like: How will I fit this in my life? How do I get started? What does a campaign look like? What can I do now to prepare to run for office sometime down the road? Connecting with your peers and hearing from experienced candidates and campaign staff will help you build the confidence, expertise and network to run a great campaign.

Annie’s List is proud to offer Preparing to Run, a two-hour program to help women at all stages of leadership start answering questions they have about running for office and take steps toward becoming a strong candidate. The program includes:

  • Basic information about running for local offices, including county commissioner, city council, school board and more
  • Insight into the time, resources and external support needed to run a successful campaign
  • Practical advice to start preparing yourself to run for office
  • Time to ask questions from experienced campaigners and connect with others considering running for office

You may be years away from your first election – or considering a run within the next year. Let Annie’s List help you on your path to becoming a champion for your community today.
