Ready to Run: Local Leaders

Ready to Run

Local Leaders

This program is designed to help prepare progressive, pro-choice women to run for positions on the school board or in city or county offices. Whether you are running for County Commissioner, City Council, School Board or Constable, Ready to Run: Local Leaders will help you plan a great campaign at the right scale for the position you seek.

The half-day training covers:

  • Targeting voters in your district and developing strategies for effective outreach
  • Leveraging your network for political fundraising
  • Tips to develop strong, consistent messages
  • Practical advice for managing the details of a campaign

Why are we training women to run for local office? Women address the issues that affect their families and communities every day. Annie’s List knows that today’s little league fundraiser or zoning commission volunteer is tomorrow’s candidate for office. Gaining experience at the city or county level can propel a women to higher levels of office – and inspire more women to follow suit.
